Pay more attention to what you find interesting (or annoying) in the world. Look for patterns or strange coincidences. Analyze those moments where you stop and say, “Huh. That’s interesting.” Expand on it. Why is it interesting? What else could be funny about it if you exaggerated some aspect of it? I find mint chocolate ice cream interesting because chocolate and mint are typically two flavors not associated with each other. When you brush your teeth with toothpaste, the last thing you think is, “Hey, I’d love to mix this toothpaste flavor with chocolate.” What other flavors would sound strange mixed with chocolate? What other strange combinations exist in the world?
